When we get it
wrong.
The policy
- Anyone can report an error. Email service@decoysignal.com with the video and what is wrong. You do not need to explain who you are.
- We respond within seven days, whether or not we agree.
- A material error, anything that could change what someone does, takes priority over everything else we are doing. Where the error could cause harm we pause or take the video down first and correct it second. The correction goes into the video description as soon as we have verified what the right answer is, and onto this page with it. Where the error is serious enough, the video is re-published corrected. We do not promise a correction within a fixed number of minutes — a correction made before it is verified is how a second error happens.
- A minor error is logged here and noted in the description.
- Every substantive correction names the file it applies to. An entry records the item and version it corrects, the original claim, what it now says, the source that settled it, the corrected file's own SHA-256, and the dates. That is the same binding the evidence register uses, so a correction can never quietly describe a file other than the one you watched.
- Corrections are additive, not silent edits. A substantive correction stays visible here. An entry may be redacted where that is needed to protect someone's personal information or to comply with the law, and the redaction is noted.
- If we cannot substantiate a claim after publishing it, we withdraw it and say so, rather than leaving it up because nobody complained.
The log
No corrections yet.
Nothing has been published yet. The videos listed in the evidence register are approved and awaiting release, which is why that page says approved rather than published. This page exists before the first video rather than after the first mistake.
